The amount of loyalty displayed by dogs has led to the common saying that they are “man’s best friend.” Sometimes, pets will remain loyal long after their owners have passed away.
Moose plays an important role in this. He is a Labrador retriever mix and he is three years old. His owner used to live in New Jersey. Moose lost his human companion when his owner passed away in the hospital.
Moose stayed by his owner’s hospital bedside, refusing to leave until he was released. Someone snapped a photo of the event and put it up on the internet.
Both NorthStar Pet Rescue and Eleventh Hour Rescue shared the photo on their Facebook pages. They were holding out hope that a new family would see the photo and offer to adopt Moose. His dedication to the team is clear.
“He’s a sweet, happy boy by nature,” the caption read. As one of his friends put it, “He just needs people to help his heart heal.”

Moose sat by his father’s hospital bed and stared out the window as he passed away.
Moose found a new home at a shelter for animals in Rockaway Township, New Jersey. In search of a loving forever home, a picture of him was shared online.
According to a Facebook post by the organization that rescued him, “Moose sat patiently next to his dad’s hospital bed, waiting for him to return, not knowing that ‘Dad’ had passed away.” “We’ve given Moose back to our friends at Eleventh Hour Rescue, and he’s really struggling with the death of his father.”
The organization that rescued him also referred to him as a “sweet happy boy by nature” who “just needs people to help his heart heal.”
Moose is fine around other canines, but his true passion lies with his human companions.
Because of this, the rescue stressed that “Moose would do best in a home where he wasn’t left home alone all day long.”
The combination of the adorable dog and the heartwarming tale makes for a hard sell. It didn’t take long for the post to be shared thousands of times and go viral. Many people from different parts of the world expressed how moved they were by the story.
It was clear that a new home for Moose could be found quickly. Rapidly, adoption applications started flooding in.
The rescue reported, “Thanks to the power of social media, Moose has received several applications and we are optimistic that he will find a forever home soon.”
